Gardening guidance should be adapted to your crop, climate, products, and building.

General gardening information

BalconyHarvest is an educational resource. Crop performance depends on variety, climate, season, sunlight, water quality, growing media, container size, pest pressure, and care. Charts and recipes are starting points, not guarantees of a particular harvest.

Balcony structures and falling objects

We cannot assess the structural capacity of a building, balcony, railing, wall, or fixing through a website. Wet containers and water reservoirs can be heavy, and planters or trellises can catch wind. Contact your building manager or a qualified structural professional before adding substantial or suspended loads. Keep objects secured and away from edges.

Pesticides and homemade treatments

Do not assume a product is safe because it is described as natural or organic. Use only products permitted for the intended plant, pest, and location; read and follow the label, protect pollinators, and avoid spraying in conditions prohibited by the label. Test any permitted treatment on a small area first. Never treat edible crops with a product not labelled for that use.

Sources and commercial relationships

Local recommendations and product labels can change. Check current local agricultural guidance and product instructions before acting. Advertising or affiliate relationships, if present, should be disclosed clearly.
